Bart Straatemeier

Bart Straatemeier studeerde vioolbouw bij P. Naismith in Londen en museologie in Leiden. Restaureerde enkele jaren in het Museum voor Volkenkunde in Rotterdam muziekinstrumenten uit alle delen van de wereld. Vestigde zich als vioolbouwer in 1984 in Leiden, waar hij aanvankelijk alleen instrumenten restaureerde. Houdt zich thans voornamelijk bezig met nieuwbouw en fotografie van strijkinstrumenten. Bartolomé Straatemeier, born in 1956, was trained by Patricia Naismith at the Department of Musical Instrument Technology of the London College of Furniture, at present a part of the London Guildhall University. For some years he had a violin-shop in Leiden, The Netherlands. Besides this he worked in an ethnographic museum, repairing ethnographical musical instruments from all over the world. At this moment he dedicates himself to the making of new violins and violas in Leiden. He is a member of the Dutch Society of Musical Instrument Makers.
